ABUJA – A group, Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation (MBLF), has said the choice of Prof. Yemi Osibanjo as the running mate to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, will secure victory for APC in 2015 general elections.
Mr Bode Towoju, the Kwara State Coordinator of the group, said this in a statement issued and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
He said that Osibanjo was a man of impeccable character, who introduced reform into the Lagos state judiciary while serving as the Attorney General and Commissioner for justice in the state.
Towoju said that with the combined team of Buhari, who is known as an incorruptible man and Osibanjo, a man with high level of integrity, victory was sure for the party.
He said that Nigerians now have a better alternative to make between the two dominant parties which is the PDP and the APC.
He added that APC stood for change and the country must embrace change.
Towoju called on aggrieved party members who contested the primary election of the party but lost out to resolve their grievances and work for the party’s victory.
He said that he sacrifice his House of Reps ticket, having purchased intention of interest form to step down for another candidate in the interest of the party and for peace to reign.
“My interest to serve the people of Irepodun, Ekiti, Oke Ero and Isin constituency in Kwara state is not a do or die affair; I can always serve in another capacity.’’
He lauded Sen. Bukola Saraki, who also sacrificed his Presidential ambition for the sake of the party’s unity, adding that no ambition was worth the unity of the party.
He said that the party would work hard to deliver the votes of Kwara to APC, adding that the party would base its campaign on issues and not character assassination.
He called on the political class to play by the rule of the game, adding that no one should employ the language of violence as Nigeria belonged to all, irrespective of political party.
Towoju said that with the emergence of Buhari/Osibanjo the country would return to the path of peace and progress, while urging members of the party to work hard for the success of APC. (NAN)
