ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – In order to manage the fallout of the expulsion of Olalekan Adetayo, Punch correspondent at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the Presidency on Monday evening recalled the correspondent whose accreditation was withdrawn on the orders of Bashir Abubakar, Chief Security Officer (CSO) to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Mr. Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, had lamented in a statement issued on Monday evening that his office was not consulted before the action was taken.
Malam Garba Shehu, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, announced the recall of Adetayo in a letter to the chairman of the Villa Correspondents’ Chapel.
The letter reads:
“We just got a clearance from Malam Lawal Daura, the DG SSS to recall Lekan to the Villa. Please come along with him tomorrow (Tuesday). The Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina and I will resolve the issues.
“Please advise the correspondents and the rest of your members to handle this with maturity. It will not help anyone to start daring the security. Lekan should be assured that he is safe. We will straighten out everything.”
