BUJUMBURA – Burundi’s Attorney-General on Tuesday said bodies found floating in a border lake between Rwanda and Burundi came from Rwanda
Valentine Bagorikunda said at a press conference in Bujumbura.
He said that local fishermen had reported seeing dozens of bodies in Lake Rweru.
Rwanda had already said that the bodies were not its citizens but the Rwandan opposition had expressed concern that some of the corpses could be opposition politicians who had disappeared. “Based on geography, according to which water flows from upstream, and testimonies from fishermen from Burundi and Rwanda.
“As well as media reports and reports from international organisations, we have concluded that those corpses were from Rwanda,’’ Bagorikunda said. (dpa/NAN) [eap_ad_3]
