Damascus – A bomb went off on Tuesday inside a bus in a Government-held area in Central Syria, killing at least eight people, a war monitor Group and State media reported.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights added that the blast took place inside a small passenger bus on the outskirts of al-Nouzaha Akrama neighbourhood in the central province of Homs.
Pro-government Al Elkhbaria TV said the blast left eight people dead and 16 injured – all civilians.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the attack.
In May, six people were killed in a suicide bombing in the Homs city’s predominantly Alawite al-Zahra district.
Homs city is the capital of the province of the same name.
That attack was claimed by the Islamic State extremist militia.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad belongs to the Alawite sect.
In recent months, al-Assad’s forces, supported by Russia, have made major territorial gains against the West-backed opposition and militant groups, including Islamic State.
