Abuja – A 35-year-old man, Ikechukwu Okoye, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Gudu Upper Area Court in Abuja for alleged criminal trespass.
Okoye, a business man at Wumba Village at Apo in the FCT is standing trial on a count charge of criminal trespass.
He, however, denied the charge preferred against him.
The Judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, granted the accused bail in the sum of N30, 000.
Kagarko ordered the accused to produce a reliable surety, residing within the jurisdiction of the court.
He adjourned hearing on the matter till March 27.
The Prosecutor, Mr Joshua Ayanna, had told the court that one Bitrus Yahaya of Plot 832 Jim Nwobodo St., Apo, reported the matter at Apo the Police Station on Feb. 3.
Ayanna said that the complainant had alleged that the accused criminally trespassed into his house.
“During police investigations, he claimed that he went there to drink water but investigations revealed that there is no tap water in the compound,’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence was contrary to Section 832 of the Penal Code.
