Bwari (FCT)- The Chairman, Bwari Area Council, Mr Peter Yohanna, on Thursday urged private companies/developers to always adhere to standards in the execution of projects to ensure proper development of communities.
Yohanna, who was represented by the Secretary of the council, Mr Lukas Zamishi, said this at the opening of tenders for the bidding of two market projects by some private companies and developers in Bwari, FCT.
The projects are for the construction of the Dawaki International Electronic and Telecommunication Market and the Mpape Market respectively.
“We are here to open tenders for available projects we want to embark on for the people of Bwari Area Council.

“These projects that we want to embark on are very viable and we pray that whoever that is going to win this project will do it well.
“With the first envelop with me I declare this event open“
He stated that the construction of the markets would improve existing market standards within the area in line with the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) master plan.
Also speaking, Mr Ajoze Shaibu, the Chief Admin Officer of the council, said that the tendering process was geared toward ensuring transparency in the award of contracts.
According to him, the bidding is in line with due process to help project the good image of the council.
“We are gathered here today to look at the two projects we had conceived with private developers; they are the Mpape market and the Dawaki International Electronic and Telecommunication market.
“Our objective is to comprehensively carry out urban reforms levels of these markets within the council to a standard befitting FCT, on Public Private Partnership basis.
“These projects were advertised in two dailies; Daily Trust and Leadership newspapers of Tuesday, June 9, 2015, we repeated the advert in a Federal tender journal on Monday, June 15, edition.
“If you count from that last date, today is exactly the sixth week, that is why we have gathered here to open the tenders we have received from various tenderers.“
