BWARI- Mr Jehzi Joseph, the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bwari, on Monday urged Nigerians to shun electoral violence and embrace peace, to achieve meaningful development.
Joseph told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari that the practice by people in some parts of the country to engage in violence as means to express their grievances had hindered peace building.
He said that as the 2015 general elections was fast approaching, people should avoid violence as it is against democratic culture.
He, therefore, advised residents of the Bwari and Nigerians in general to engage in productive activities that would foster economic growth.
“We must shun in violence; instead of fighting over political interests and ethnic bias, let us embrace peace.
“Consider the number of people that lost their lives, especially in the North-east; let us join forces against violence that bedevil our nation today.
“We must come together and work closely with one another; that way we can enthrone peace.
“It is by so doing that we will be able to evolve a development agenda and chart the way for forward for the country.”
He commended the smooth conduct of the recent area council ward congress in Bwari during which a consensus candidate emerged. (NAN)
