Abuja – Amb. Sokari Afiesimama, the National Publicity Secretary, Coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups, has described British Prime Minister David Cameron’s statement that Nigeria “is fantastically corrupt’’ unfortunate.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, he observed that the statement was contrary to the performance of the present administration and its efforts at strengthening the economy and redeeming the image of the country.

Afiesmama, who is also the Convener, Rescue Nigeria Mandate Mission, noted that
It would be unfair and unpatriotic for any Nigerian to be linked to supporting such a statement.

“Cameron’s remarks on our great country Nigeria as being fantastically corrupt is unfortunate and an attempt to destabilise the country.

“Nigeria, under the present leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, has experienced glaring culture revival and has therefore gained the recognition of various world leaders.

“It is unfortunate that Cameron could be influenced by past politicians to rate Nigeria among most corrupt nations of the World in spite of Buhari’s determination to fight corruption,’’ he said.

He commended Buhari for his administration’s stance on fight against corruption which he described as a good step to ensure better future for Nigerians. (NAN)
