ILE-IFE – Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the gubernatorial candidate of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Aug. 9 election in Osun State, has promised to promote good governance if elected.
Omisore made the promise while campaigning in Ile-Ife, Osun, on Wednesday.
He said that if elected, pensioners, teachers and civil servants would receive their salary and emoluments as at when due.
The PDP candidate said youths would be employed, and that market men and women, artisans and others groups would also benefit from his administration if elected.
Omisore gave the assurance that good roads, potable water, electricity, qualitative education, and infrastructure, among other facilities, would be provided for the people. Earlier, Omisore and his campaign team visited Oba Okunade Sijuwade, the Ooni of Ife, where the traditional ruler prayed for him and wished him success in the election.
Mr Ayo Fayose, the Governor-elect of Ekiti, who had earlier said that Omisore had come to deliver the people of Osun, expressed the confidence that PDP would win the election. Fayose said he had faith in the Ooni, and reminded the people that he went to the traditional ruler when he was contesting governorship election in Ekiti.
He said the Ooni prayed for him and assured him of victory, adding that he was sure Omisore would also win the governorship election.
Prof. Wale Ladipo, the PDP National Secretary for South West, lauded Ooni for always playing his role as a committed and caring father.
Ladipo, who appealed to the people of the state to cast their votes for Omisore, promised that he would not let them down.
The dignitaries that visited the Ooni included Adejare Bello, former Speaker of Osun House of Assembly who is contesting as Deputy Governor for PDP.
Mr Ganiyu Olaoluwa, the PDP Chairman in the state, as well as other traditional rulers and chiefs were at the palace.
The group also visited Modakeke, as well as Yekemi, Iyanfoworogi, Obaloran, Ilode, Oja-titun, Ojafe and Sabo areas of Ife. (NAN)
