Yenagoa – The Captain of the Nigerian Wrestling Federation, Sinivie Boltic, on Thursday advised wrestlers in Bayelsa to work hard on improving their tactics to win medals.
Boltic gave the advice while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yenagoa on preparations being made by Team Bayelsa for the National Sports Festival (NSF), slated for Calabar.
The festival, earlier scheduled to hold in 2015 would now be holding in November this year.
“Firstly, you have to be skilful, agile and committed in a game for you to win medals.

“Our athletes have embarked on serious training since the announcement of the new date for the fiesta.
“Yes, I am also coach of Team Bayelsa. As you can see the athletes are on serious training, they are working hard on new skills.
“Team Bayelsa has been doing well in the history of NSF and you know in every competition, the way you prepare yourself matters a lot,” he said.
The Captain of the Bayelsa State Wrestling Association, Mr Hadston Wariebi, said the association had embarked on early training to perform better at the NSF.
“We have been doing well in wrestling. Bayelsa State has talented men and women in wrestling.
“In the last sports festival in Lagos, we won medals; of course, we are one of the best in wrestling.
“I, myself, I won gold at the Lagos event. I cannot ascertain the number of we won at Lagos but we did well.
“On buying athletes, we won’t engage in buying athletes for us to raise a good contingent to the forthcoming fiesta and that is why we are on this early training till November.
“Buying athletes does not make any sense for the development of the sports (wrestling) not only in the state but the country at large. (NAN)
