Abuja – The Police on Wednesday arraigned one Raymond Ahigbe, a car dealer in Apo before a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding his customer of N2.4 million.
Ahigbe, of no fixed address, is facing a two-count charge of criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Osa Oyeyemi, told the court that Umaru Mohammed, who resides at Federal Housing, Nyaya, reported the matter on Oct. 23 in a petition he wrote to the Police Area Command, Maitama.
Oyeyemi said that on June 2, Mohammed gave his brand new Toyota Sienna 2006 Model car to the accused to sell for N2.4 million.
He said that Ahigbe sold the car and diverted the money for his personal use and refused to pay the complainant as agreed.
The prosecutor said the accused gave the complainant a dud cheque and had been avoiding him since then.
Oyeyemi said the offences contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Senior Magistrate Shuaibu Ahmed granted bail to the accused in the sum of N2 million with a surety in like sum.

He said the surety should reside within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till Nov. 26 for hearing. (NAN)
