LAGOS (SUNDIATA POST)- Catholic faithful in Lagos State will be celebrating mass for the repose of the soul of Pope Francis who died on Easter Monday.

This is contained in a circular signed by the Archbishop of Lagos  Catholic Archdiocese, Most Rev. Adewale Martins.

The circular was made available to newsmen in Lagos on Tuesday.

The mass would be celebrated at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, according to Martins, who noted that the mass would also be celebrated by other Catholics worldwide.

He expressed grief at the death of the Pope but thanked God for his  life of service to God and humanity.

“It is not without spiritual significance that the holy father passed during the Easter season, a time when the church proclaims with joy the victory of Christ over death,” he said.

The archbishop urged Catholic faithful to attend the mass en masse to show respect for the Pope. (NAN)
