In a shocking turn of events, the Nigerian entertainment scene mourns the loss of Nollywood comic legend, John Okafor, widely recognized as Mr. Ibu.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria confirmed his demise, revealing that the acclaimed actor suffered a cardiac arrest, as disclosed by Emeka Rollas, the National President of AGN, in a somber Instagram post.
In a dual blow to the industry, Rollas also announced the passing of actress Kate Henshaw’s mother on the same day. Expressing condolences, he lamented the unfortunate losses, stating, “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria. Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today, and Mr. Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years, Mr. Don Single Nwuzor.”
Regrettably, Rollas concluded the announcement with the heartbreaking news that Mr. Ibu did not survive. “I announce with a deep sense of grief that Mr. Ibu didn’t make it. May his soul rest in peace.”
