Elele (Rivers) – The Central Naval Command (CNC) of Nigerian Navy on Tuesday commenced the 2015 small arms and weapons calibration drill.
Speaking during the opening ceremony at the 343 Artilllery Shooting Range, Nigerian Army Barracks, Elele, Rivers, Rear Admiral Apochi Suleiman, Flag Officer Commanding, CNC, urged officers and men to show commitment.
He also charged them to maintain the shooting range safety guidelines and adhere to the instructions to benefit maximally from the exercise.
Suleiman, who also participated in the drill alongside Fleet Commander, Commodore Clement Offor, and other senior officers, noted that the training was to enhance the proficiency of personnel in handling small fire arms.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
He said that the drill was part of continuous efforts to safeguard the nation’s maritime resources and oil infrastructure within its area of responsibility in the Niger Delta region.
The Flag Officer also said that to underscore the importance of the training to the operations of the command, all the officers had been divided into three groups to take turns in the exercise scheduled to end on Dec. 4.
