Gwadabawa (Sokoto State) – A chairmanship aspirant for Gwadabawa Local Government in Sokoto State, Aminu Aya, on Monday pledged to construct a clinic in each of the 11 wards of the area, if elected.
Aya told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gwadabawa that he would focus on issues that would promote the well being of women and children in the area.
“A clinic will be established in each of the eleven wards of the area, and they will be fully equipped and staffed.
“This is aimed at reducing maternal motarlity and mobidity, and reduce the hardship being faced by women in accessing quality healthcare for themselves and their children,” he said.
Aya, who is aspiring for the position under the All Progressive Congress (APC), also pledged to set up standing committees on education in each ward, to encourage enrolment and retention of pupils in primary schools.
The aspirant said emphasis would also be given to the promotion of girl-child education and protection.
Similarly, the aspirant said he planned to set up three skill acquisition centres in the local government, to train youths on various vocations and empower them to be self reliant.

“The local government would provide working tools and grants for the youths upon the completion of their training, to enable them set up businesses,” Aya added.
NAN reports that the State Independent Electoral Commission, has fixed January 9, 2016 for election into all the local government councils of the state.(NAN)
