Port Harcourt – Mr Emeka Unachukwu, the President, Port
Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, on Monday said that the 11th edition of
the Port Harcourt international trade fair would be more innovative.
Unachukwu made the promise at a press briefing on the 11th
edition of the Port Harcourt international trade fair in Port
Harcourt.
He said that trade fairs under his supervision were unique unlike
what they used to be in the past when they were seen as “shows for
herbalists”.
The chamber boss expressed satisfaction with the progress of
traders in Port Harcourt.
“We have been able to establish starters, promote and
stabilise businesses through our programmes.”
Unachukwu said that the chamber had done well in line
with its constitutional mandate in spite of enormous challenges.
He decried the unhealthy rivalry existing between the chamber and
state ministry of commerce, adding that Discount Market should be
shut down.

The chamber boss, who appealed for government’s support, said that it
was imperative to discontinue the Discount Market.
Unachukwu explained that the chamber ought not to be in competition
with the state, but in synergy for business prosperity in the state.
