Abuja – The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ltd. (ACCI), has partnered the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), to assist corps members to acquire entrepreneurial skills.
The Director of Business Development of the ACCI, Mrs Tonia Soyele, said this on Friday at the Skills Acquisition Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Inter Debate organised for corps members in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the topic of the debate was entitled “ Can finance stop someone from becoming an entrepreneur.’’
Soyele said her chamber partnered the NYSC to organise the debate to key into the Federal Government’s policy aimed at educating youths on entrepreneurial skills and businesses.
“Initially, the Abuja Chamber of Commerce has been noted for dealing with business people.
“But the new President began to have a thought that the youth should be exposed to the workings in the chamber to enable them understand the real meaning of entrepreneurship.’’
Soyele said the debate was organised to make young graduates understand that entrepreneurial skills and businesses were key to grow economy.
She presented gifts to the participants who excelled in the competition and donated food items to the camp.
Responding, the NYSC Camp Director, Mrs Joy Haruna, commended the chamber for its good gesture.
Haruna said the debate would go a long way in enhancing the capacity of corps members on entrepreneurial businesses. (NAN)
