ENUGU (Sundiata Post) – Award-winning author Chimamanda Adichie will headline the first-ever ‘Things Fall Apart’ Festival, a significant event organised by Ncheta Ndigbo, the Centre for Memories in Enugu. This festival is an expansion of the annual ‘Things Fall Apart’ Day, which is now in its fifth year.
The weeklong festival, taking place from June 29 to July 5 at the Centre for Memories in Enugu, will honour Chinua Achebe’s invaluable contribution to literature, marking 67 years since the publication of his groundbreaking novel.
This year’s edition of the festival is themed “Masculine, Feminine, Human: The Dialogue of Complements in Things Fall Apart.”
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the organisers expressed their excitement about Adichie’s involvement, praising her as “one of the most powerful literary voices of our time.”
They further revealed that she will reflect on the power of storytelling, cultural identity, and the profound legacy of Chinua Achebe, whom they described as “her greatest inspiration.”
“It’s Official! Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is Headlining the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025,” the post stated.
“We are screaming with excitement because the iconic Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie – globally celebrated novelist, feminist, and one of the most powerful literary voices of our time – is coming home to headline the Things Fall Apart Festival 2025.
“Adichie, fresh from her worldwide tour for her new book Dream Count, joins us to honour one of her greatest inspirations, the legendary Chinua Achebe, the pre-eminent storyteller whose words redefined African literature and consciousness.
“Adichie will reflect on storytelling, cultural rootedness, and the timeless dialogue between history and identity. Her presence marks a powerful moment in our collective exploration of the festival’s theme.”
The organisers described the festival as more than just an event, calling it a “celebration and movement.”
“This is more than a festival, it’s a homecoming, a celebration, a movement. Achebe lives. Our stories rise. And YOU need to be part of it,” they concluded.
The festival will feature a variety of activities, including art exhibitions, traditional performances, film screenings, and an essay competition.
