BEIJING – The Peoples Republic of China says it is ready to partner with Nigeria and other African countries to fight piracy and other forms of intellectual property theft.
Ms Zhang Dan, an official of China’s State Administration for Commerce and Industry, said this during a seminar on Intellectual Property Rights in Beijing.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 25 participants from English Speaking African countries are currently attending training on Intellectual Property Rights in China.
Zhang said China welcomed any country that was ready to partner with it to fight piracy and intellectual property theft.
According to her, China is ready to offer all the required support to any country that comes up with the necessary framework on piracy and intellectual property theft.

She, however, said such partnership must be mutually beneficial to both China and the partner countries.
“Nigeria and any other interested African country should come up with the necessary framework that will enable the two countries to benefit,” she said.
Zhang said that the seminar was part of China’s contributions to the development of property rights in Africa. (NAN)
