Beijing – China’s National Natural Science Foundation said it has funded 37,606 programmes with an investment of 2.87 billion dollars, since the beginning of 2015.
President of the foundation, Yang Wei, said on Monday at a news conference in Beijing that the programmes accounted for 80.2 per cent of the 2015 funding plan.
He said the research funds had been better directed this year, adding that project leaders who received the investment were getting younger with 43.14 per cent under 40 years old.
Yang said the foundation was a major funding source focusing on basic research and frontier scientific exploration.
He said it had cooperated with 78 overseas natural science organisations funding agencies in 39 countries. (Xinhua/NAN)
