Lagos – The Nigeria Navy at the Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) 2019 Christmas Carol Service had asked for God’s guidance for the leaders of the country as they continue to steer her affairs.

The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, said that the carol service was an auspicious occasion to pray for the President of the country and other leaders.

“This carol service provides yet another auspicious opportunity for us to pray for our beloved President and the Commander -In-Chief ( C-In-C), and indeed the entire leadership of our dear country.

“We ask for God’s guidance and uncommon vision in all their actions so that they will continue to steer the nation’s ship aright.

“The entire Navy continues to appreciate Mr President’s unwavering favourable disposition to the service which has enabled her to actualise numerous infrastructural projects and welfare schemes.

“That has enhanced our ability to provide unhindered service to our fatherland,” he said.

The Naval Chief also prayed for the members of the Armed Forces deployed on national duty against insurgency and criminality in the North-East, and in the Niger/Delta areas.

“We ask the Almighty to protect, guide and speedily grant them victory in their various operations.”

He also asked all present to spare moments of prayers for their colleagues who had paid the supreme sacrifice over the past years.

” We ask God Almighty to grant their souls a peaceful repose and succour to their dependants and loved ones,” he said.

Ibas also commended the President of NOWA, Mrs Theresa Ibas, for her leadership and commitment to the ideal of the association.

He commended the association for the various charity programmes it had organised for the less priviledged which he said had impacted positively on the image of the service.

In her remarks, the President of NOWA, Mrs Theresa Ibas, urged NOWA members to always serve as rays of hope to the needy and the hopeless ones in the society.

“The theme of our celebration ‘O Little Child of Bethlehem’ is symbolic of hope we should have irrespective of the situation we find ourselves.

“Bethlehem was a town believed to have nothing good to offer, it represented a hopeless situation, yet out of the dark streets, a bright light had shown.

“Accordingly, regardless of whatever situation we face in life, the season urges us to keep faith and believe in a brighter tomorrow,” she said.

The Christmas Carol Service was held at Naval Dockyard Limited on Victoria Island in Lagos.
