Christmas, not just for Christians — Gospel artiste

Lagos – Daniel Edeh , a gospel artiste, popularly known as Dannielove, has described Christmas as a season to express love to everyone, but not a celebration meant for Christians alone.
Edeh told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Saturday on the sidelines of the Cool FM Praise Jam that the season should be observed as a great opportunity to strengthen our unity as a people.
He said that in spite of the economic crunch and the insurgency challenge, Nigerians should see this year’s celebration as a unique one.
“Overtime, Christmas has become a culture of showing love and affection to friends and family, as well as praising God for His goodness, from the start of the year to the end.
“I see Christmas as the best season to express love, which is demonstrated by sharing gifts to loved ones, far and near.
“It is quite fortunate that we are undergoing metamorphosis at this time and there are really little or no funds to aid the expenses that come with the season,” he said.
Edeh also commended Cool FM for the initiative of gathering people to praise and honour God, which he described as a core duty of the human race.

“I give kudos to the organisation for its consistency over the years and most especially now that the state of the economy is at a downturn,” he said.
Fortune Ebel, another gospel artiste at the event, urged Nigerian leaders to seize the joy of the season to further strengthen the unity of the country, to avert the tales of war.
“The crisis of insurgency faced by the country is borne out of disunity and the division of purpose that can be resolved with deliberate efforts of showing love and concern to all, regardless of tribe.
“It is important to promote the spirit of oneness and brotherhood, which will go a long way in curbing the shedding of innocent blood in the country,” he added. (NAN)
