Abuja – Sen. Solomon Adeola, Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, has called on all Christians and Nigerians in general to use the occasion of the Christmas celebration to renew their faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour of mankind.
He also called on Christians to pray for peace and economic development of Nigeria.
A statement by his Media Adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro in Abuja on Tuesday indicates that the senator made the call in a Christmas message to felicitate with his constituents and Nigerian Christendom.
Adeola said Christmas symbolises the celebration of the birth of a new dawn for the salvation of souls for all humanity, especially for the Christian believers.
He said the period should therefore not be used for only merry-making, stressing that this year’s celebration was another opportunity for fervent prayers for a new dawn and prosperous future for individuals and the Nigerian nation.
While acknowledging that Nigerians in general are going through ”a difficult period for sustained economic growth that is mercifully not compounded by the usual fuel scarcity as witnessed in time past during Yuletide,” the senator urged all Nigerians to be patient and look forward to a better future .
He said that with abiding faith in Jesus Christ, the nation’s challenges would be a thing of the past as Nigeria moves to her next level of development.
