Abuja, – The Police on Tuesday arraigned a civil servant, Sunday Agbo, in a Wuse Zone 6 Chief Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, for allegedly constituting public nuisance and calling one Bako Abubakar a terrorist.
Agbo of Plot 692, Durumi District, Phase 1, Abuja, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on public nuisance and defamation of character.
The prosecutor, Fidelis Ogbobe, told the court that one Bako Abubakar of the same address, on Feb. 5 reported the matter at the Durumi Police Station.
According to Ogbobe, the complainant alleged that the defendant who is his landlord called him and members of his family Boko Haram terrorists.
The prosecutor also said that Abubakar alleged that noise pollution that comes from a church, located inside the premises has been disturbing him and his family.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 391 and 178 of the Penal Code.
Agbo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His counsel, Johnson Ahuruonye, made an oral bail application for his client.
The Magistrate, Abdulmajid Oniyangi, granted him bail in the sum of N250, 000 with one surety in like sum.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 3, for hearing. (
