Minna – Dr. Bashir Yankuzo, Chief Imam, Federal University of Technology, Minna Central Mosque, has urged Muslims to uphold the values of honesty and transparency at all times.
Yankuzo, in a sermon delivered on Friday, noted that Muslim faithful, who obeyed the teachings of Allah, would receive a bountiful reward on earth, and in the hereafter.
The sermon had the topic “Respecting values approved by Allah is a sign of respect to Allah”.
“Allah’s injunctions are clear. They include honesty, sincerity, caring for others, respect for constituted authority, and love.
“True Muslims must also avoid lies, deceit, misappropriation of public funds, and betrayal of trust,” he said.
He urged Muslims to always reflect on consequences of their actions and prepare to account for them before Allah after death.
“Life on earth is short and brief, but it is what we do in it that determines where we shall be after death.
“We must relate with people based on merit and not because of personal gains.
“In our world today, some politicians can sell their honor, integrity or even religious beliefs to get people’s votes.
“As Muslims, we must know the antecedents of people before we accept them; No Muslim should allow himself to be bitten twice from the same hole,” he said.
The cleric cautioned Muslims against inflicting pains on others, saying that they must love and care for other people irrespective of religion and ethnic affiliation.
