Enugu – A Cleric, Rev. Maxwell Onyia, has advised couples to learn how to explain what was bothering them in a meaningful communication without accusing each other.
Onyia, who is the priest in-charge of Anglican Church of Ascension, Achara Layout, Enugu, gave the advice in a homily he delivered on Sunday.
The theme of the homily is “Solutions that Can Save Relationship’’.
He stressed that communication among couples remained panacea against divorce, especially when it involved young people.
The religious leader noted that “communication is at the heart of all relationship’’ adding that breakdown in communication had remained one of the major reasons for divorce.
“The thought of starting a family is always exciting, hopeful but sometimes difficult when couples run into few bumps on the road.
“However, the major bump to relationship remains lack of communication.
“It is better to complain than to harbour bitterness, express your needs or wants clearly.’’
Onyia also urged couples to have an attitude of gratitude and “never treat your partner with contempt’’.
