Akwanga (Nasarawa State) – Rev. Fr. Raymond Tyohemba, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, has urged Nigerians not to pay allegiance to any clergyman but to God.
The cleric made the call on Sunday during his sermon in Akwanga in Akwanga Local Government area of the state.
Tyohemba took his reading from the Books of Daniel 7:13-14, Letter to the Revelation1:5-8 and John 12:33-37.
The Rev. Father said the massage was necessitated by the attitude of some people who tended to have total trust and belief in clergymen rather than God Almighty.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Instead of trusting and believing in God, some people believe and trust some so-called pastors, reverends, evangelists, imams and malams who most often mislead them to doing negative things.
“Most leaders of occult groups, terror organisations, among others, disguise as clergymen and use the platform to recruit members by mis-indoctrinating them and giving them false consciousness,” he said.
The preacher advised that people should have trust in God and stop visiting witchdoctors for protection whenever they were in serious problems.
He said that if people believed in God, most of the vices in the society today would disappear from the surface of the earth.
“If you believe in God, you would not sell fuel above the approved price or adjust your pump, kill people, exploit your customers or engage in evil of any kind.
“So, as children of God, the love for God needs to manifest in all aspects of our lives – personal lives, places of work and the family, among others,” he said.
Tyohemba also advised parents to teach their children the ways of God and stop introducing them to ‘babalawos’ or witchdoctors. (NAN)
