LAGOS – The Head Coach of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Nosiru Bello, on Thursday expressed his optimism that Nigeria would excel at the World Junior Table Tennis Championship holding in China.
He told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that four Nigerian female players would represent Africa at the world championship, holding from Nov. 30 to Dec. 8.
The coach said that the players had been training hard, hoping to excel in China.
The players are: Tosin Oribamise, Joke Ojomu, Onyinyechi Mbu and Halimat Ayila.
“The only way to perform excellently in any major tournament is to prepare adequately and that is what the players are doing.
“These girls have done well to qualify and represent Africa at the event.
“The championship is going to be tough but I am optimistic that the players have what it takes to perform well because they are determine and focused,’’ he said.
The coach, who will lead the players to the championship, told NAN that the team would leave for China on Nov. 28.
He commended the NTTF president, Wahid Oshodi, for contributing to the growth of table tennis in Nigeria.
“The federation president is the brain behind the current limelight table tennis is witnessing and he should be commended for this,’’ Bello said. (NAN)
