Lagos, – The National Coach, Nigeria Wushu Kung-Fu Federation, Mr Ojo Adelusi, has called on corporate bodies and the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for more support for federation’s programmes.

Adelusi told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos that the federation needed support for the training of athletes for participation in international championships and organising competitions locally.

According to him, an athlete needs to be fit so as not to be caught unaware in championships.

“It is only through regular training that an athlete will win a medal, which is the joy of the coach, athlete and the nation he represents.

“The nature of the sport requires training which makes the athlete to be current in and out of competitions and helps the athlete to abide by the rules and regulations,” he said.

He also called on coaches at the state levels to make regular training a habit.

He said that they should train athletes under them as if there would be competition tomorrow.
