Lagos – A 20-year-old cobbler, Sikiru Ojuleye, who allegedly stabbed a man with broken bottle, was on Wednesday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Ojuleye, who resides at No. 6, Akintunde St., Papa Ashafa, Agege, Lagos, is facing a charge of assault, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 20, at Abibatu Junction, Dopemu Agege, Lagos.
He said the defendant used a broken bottle to stab the complainant, Jamiu Adeyemo, on his forehead and hand, following a disagreement which ensued between them.
Okuoimose said the offence contravenes Sections 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 173 stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.
The Magistrate, Mrs Y.O. Ekogbulu, granted the defendant N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till April 25 for mention.
