College of Education establishes 11 new academic programmes

Ikere (Ekiti)   –   The management of College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti, on Wednesday approved the establishment of 11 new academic programmes for the institution.

Mr Temitope Akinbisoye, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the college, ‎disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ado-Ekiti.

Akinbisoye said that the Provost of the college, Dr Mojisola Oyarekua, said the new academic programmes were established to create opportunities for people to acquire education irrespective of their status and background.

He quoted the Provost as saying that the programmes which would run for both diploma and certificate, were also set up to enhance manpower development.

According to the statement, Oyarekua further explained that the certificate courses would run for six months, while the diploma courses would run for two years.

Some of the academic programmes approved include: Library Studies, Theatre Arts, Music, Local Government Studies, French and Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Others are: Tourism and Hospitality Management, Technical Education, Creative Art and Graphic Technology, Science Laboratory Technology, Auto Card Design and Communication Art.

She said that prospective candidates were expected to have minimum of three credits in SSCE or its equivalent. (NAN)
