Nsukka (Enugu State) – An educationist, Mr Chinedu Ejiofor, has appealed to indigenes of the South-East Geopolitical Zone to give maximum support to Mr John Nwodo, the newly elected President of Ohaneze Ndigbo.
Ejiofor, the Proprietor of Elizabeth Memorial College of Education, Nsukka, said on Friday that Nwodo had all it would take to lift the Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
He spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Nsukka.
“Given his enviable track record of performance as a former Minister of Information, Nwodo has all it takes to unify, restore the dignity of the organization, and move it to the next level.
“With maximum support of Igbo people in the country and in the Diaspora, he will mobilise the Igbos and fight against marginalisation of Igbo people.
“This is a time for Igbo people to work together and speak with one voice to enable the Igbo race to take its rightful place in Nigeria,” he said.
He said that adequate support for Nwodo would enable Igbos to produce a presidential candidate who would win in the 2019 general elections.
Ejiofor told NAN that Nwodo was committed to the development and progress of the South-East Geopolitical Zone.
“I have known Nwodo for a long time; he is intelligent, honest, dependable and God-fearing.
“Nwodo is a person that believes that hard work must be rewarded and truth told no matter whose ox is gored.
“I have no doubt that Ohaneze Ndigbo will be repositioned to record enviable feats during Nwodo’s administration,” he said.
