Sherrif was said to have first stormed the party’s secretariat with his loyalists and personal staff as early as 7am with a copy of court order allegedly confirming him as the authentic chairman, but was stopped by the policemen at the entrance gate .
According to our source at the party headquarters, Sherrif apparently not satisfied with the police explanation went back to the Police Headquarters (Lious Edet House) to effect his access to the building, but again was turned down .
Sundiata Post reliably gathered that it was after his third attempt that he was allegedly allowed by the policemen at the gate after the policemen spoke on phone with the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arise .
Our source disclosed that Sherrif gained entrance with the directive of the IGP to the chagrin of the staff of the party.
He was allegedly accompanied by notable party chieftains like Chief Chris Uba and Senator Buruji Kasumu, among others
He was said to have moved straight to the office of the national chairman on the second floor, and later addressed the press at the NWC hall in company of some for National Working Committee members.
As at the time of filing this report, police, State Security Service and Civil Defence personnel have been disengaged from the premises after the successful take-over by Sherrif.
There are unconfirmed report that , the Makarfi-led caretaker committee and members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) were said to be meeting in an undisclosed venue to review the situation. Part of their strategy is to see how the court order would be vacated on Tuesday. There are fears that the once busy national secretariat would be under lock and key on Tuesday to avoid a break-down of law and order
Most staff who were seen around the party secretariat were discussing in hush tones over the turn of event, with many expressing surprise over the drama.
As at the time of filing this report Sherrif was busy in his office attending to official issues.
Most staff left the premises in line with the earlier directive to stay away from the office, while people were avoiding the secretariat area to avoid been cut unawares in case of any eventuality.
