Abuja – The Royal Commonwealth Society (RCS) on Friday underscored the need for review of the current security architecture in Nigeria to achieve targets.
The Country Director of RCS, Mr Blackson Bayewumi, gave the advice in a statement in Abuja on Friday.
NAN reports that RCS is an organisation that seeks to promote commonwealth societal values through youth empowerment, education and advocacy.
Bayewumi said the Federal Government’s resolve to holistically tackle insecurity was a right step in a right direction.
He however, noted that more successes could be achieved only if the nation’s security architecture was reviewed with new strategy adopted for lasting solution.
According to him, there is urgent need for a reassessment and review of the current security architecture, in spite of all the efforts by security agencies to put up optimal performance, to achieve results.
Bayewumi said: “Security reports across the country show that security situation is overwhelming and requires drastic and new approaches at ensuring sustainable security of lives and property in the country.
“It is important to note here that this is not the time for blame game rather, it is time for concerted efforts at finding workable and lasting solutions to the security situation.
“To this end, I hereby submit that alternative strategy in tackling security situation is inevitable and should be considered; there is the need for paradigm shift and overhaul of security architecture.
“Also, collaboration with advanced and developed countries to this effect should be used and modern technologies deployed to enhance the service delivery of security personnel.”
He noted that attainment of the Nigeria’s dream required collaborative efforts and urged Nigerians to always work closely with security operatives to achieve the desired goals.
