Hadejia(Jigawa) – The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, has urged the people of Hadejia in Jigawa, to utilise Information Communication Technology (ICT) for economic growth.
Pantami made the call when he inaugurated the Hadejia Community ICT Centre on Tuesday.
He said the Hadejia ICT Centre was an intervention of the Federal Government through the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) under the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.
He said the gesture was part of the efforts of President Muhammadu Buhari administration to make people get the required knowledge and survive in the digital world.
According to the minister, the importance of Internet could not be overemphasised, saying that with it, people could stay in their bedroom and transact business across the globe.
“The Internet has changed our lives and the way we transact business with people anywhere in the world.
“Internet has boosted our economic prosperity and reduced the burden of our business men and women to travel oversee to waste money unnecessarily.
“One can stay in his room and access any type of goods or services through the Internet and buy,” he said.
He said said that the Internet Centre would immensely help students for JAMB and WAEC Registrations as well as other services.
Pantami also said the centre was built free by the Federal Government for the community, but that its maintenance and sustainability was the responsibility of the community.
Gov. Muhammadu Badaru and the Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Maje , thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the establishment of the community IT Centre in Hadejia.

”You need knowledge of ICT in the quest for development and to boast your economic viability,” the Emir and the Governor said.
They promised tonensure that the centre was sustained and maintained in order to stand the test of time.
The Director-General of NITDA, Alhaji Kashim Abdullahi, thanked the minister and president Muhammadu Buhari for supporting the initiative to site the community IT Centre in Hadejia through the Federal Government intervention.
