Omu-Aran (Kwara) – A community leader in Omu-Aran, Kwara, Alhaji Funsho Salahudeen, has urged Muslims to use the holy month of Ramadan to intensify in their prayers for solutions to the nation’s numerous challenges.
Salahudeen made the call during a Laylatul-Qodri Friday night a special prayer organised by the Kwara Chapter of Nasirul-Lahi-L-Fatih society of Nigeria (NASFAT) in Omu-Aran, Ifelodun Local Government.
Salahudeen, who was the chairman of the occasion, called on the Muslims to use the opportunity provided by the Ramadan to seek Allah’s favour for the nation’s growth and development.
He said that insecurity; kidnapping; unemployment and poverty in the country remained stumbling blocks to nation’s progress and development.
He said the country needed a divine intervention to overcome its numerous challenges, adding that Muslims observing fasting should strive to be closer to Allah with prayers to be able to elicit Allah’s intercession.
“For us to be able to intercede for the nation at this critical period we need to imbibe those possible virtues, coupled with more prayers at this holy month of fasting,” he said.
He advised Muslims leaders, especially those in Omu-Aran, to redouble their efforts to ensure a solid foundation for the religion in every nooks and crannies of the community and beyond.
“In the 60s and 70s, Islam used to be a minor and almost a forbidden religion in this community.
“But we give glory to Allah that today some of us can still hold our heads high and proudly proclaim our identity as a Muslims.“
The president of the association, Alhaji Kamil Bolarinwa, described the night of Lailatul Qodri “as a bringer of light and guidance for mankind where prayers are readily answered. “
Bolarinwa, who was represented by the association’s chairman in the state, Alhjai Isiaq Agboola, urged members to focus their prayers on the association’s growth and development.
Alhaji Isiaq Jibril, NASFAT’s Missioner Tanke Çhapter, in a lecture, urged Muslims to imbibe a life devoid of ungodly acts and anti-social vices to attract Allah’s blessings.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the annual Ramadan special prayer was attended by members of the association and Muslim faithful across the 16 Local Government areas of the state.
The highlight of the occasion was a special prayer for the association, the state and the country in general. (NAN)
