BAUCHI – Dr Alkasim Ibrahim, the General Manager, Bauchi Meat Factory and Product Company, said that the company, if funded adequately, would provide employment and supply raw materials to the country’s cottage industry.
Ibrahim said this on Tuesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi.
According to him, the recent threat from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) to close down the company over the N24 million back load revenues was due to poor operations and inadequate funding.
He said that both Bauchi and Gombe state governments had a good source of generating revenue and also attracting investors.
“ The two governments should come together and fund the company; it will perform beyond national expectations.
“This company can stand on its feet if it is funded adequately, because almost all parts of the cattle’s body can be used in various industries such as the skin which can be used by leather companies to make bags, carpets, shoes etc.
“The animal bone marrow can equally be used by pharmaceutical industries for drugs and cosmetics and also the animal glands can be used to produce hormones and enzymes by the pharmaceutical companies.
“Even the animal blood can be used by feed mill industries because it is a source of protein for the animals as well as.
“Other benefits of the animal that we slaughter include the use of the intestine as surgical suture; hooves and horns can be used by chalk industries and for buttons and when it is crushed, it is a good source of calcium for animals.
