BADAGRY – The Triennial Delegates Conference of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) kicked off in Badagry, Lagos State on Friday with about 1000 participants.
The conference will feature a seminar with the theme: Career Women and National Development.
The conference will also usher in a new set of leaders that will pilot the affairs of NAWOJ for the next three years.
About 34 candidates are contesting for the national posts of President, Deputy President, six zonal Vice Presidents, six zonal Secretaries, National Treasurer and National Auditor
Two candidates were disqualified for anti-union activities, one for lack of relevant qualification while one withdrew from the race.
Those contesting for president are Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole of News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs Fatimah Adulkareem of Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, Ibadan, and Mrs Julie Ekong of FRCN, Lagos. (NAN)
