Ogwashi-Uku (Delta) – Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, Consultant to the Delta Government on Education, has called on industrialists and wealthy individuals to invest their resources in the development of technology.
He made the call on Friday during a working visit to the Delta Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.
Muoboghare said investment in technology would help institutions in the country to undertake mass production of fabricated machines and tools, noting that the nation’s educational institutions lacked the necessary funds.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the quality of items produced in the workshops in the Polytechnic’s School of Engineering, stressing that the fabricated machines could compete favourably with those in the market.
The consultant further said that any investment in the production of such machines would help to grow the nation’s economy and increase the proficiency of the lecturers and engineering students.
He also appealed to industrialists to key into the engineering advancement project assuring that money invested in a technology venture would never be a waste.
Muoboghare stated that to actualise the vision of the project, his office in conjunction with the State Ministry of Higher Education would host an exhibition toward the end of 2017.
‘’This is to showcase areas and benefits of such investment,’’ he said.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Stella Chiemeka, who also inspected some of the fabricated machines produced by the students, expressed satisfaction with the quality of production.
Chiemeka lauded the ingenuity of the lecturers and students of the School of Engineering for the fabrication of various types of machines in the workshops.
He urged them to sustain the quality of job. (NAN)
