ABUJA – Mr Nnamdi Okpara, the National Coordinator, Mater Dei Communication Centre, an NGO, has urged Nigerians to join hands with Federal Government to rebrand Nigeria for modernity and dignity of the nation.
Okpara told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Saturday in Abuja.
He said that the objective of the NGO was to fight immorality, ungodliness and ensuring that the society embrace peace, unity and live in ethics and moral values standard.
He said that Nigeria must be rebranded to model whose socio-economic cum political modernity and glamour would attract love, dignity and respect.
“All of us as Nigerians must return to the ancient path, the path of the fear of God, the path of humility, purity and love, the path of moral rectitude and sober reflection.
“We must now re-examine our consciences and allow our intellects and wills probe the inner recesses of our hearts to reveal the true state of our relationship with our neigbours.
“We must also accept that all of us have failed in the acquisition of genuine knowledge at the service of truth, morality and justice.
“We have failed to uphold a perfect sense of responsibility that promotes the common good of our society.
“We must now embark wholeheartedly, on spiritual, intellectual and human retreats for genuine moral re-birth in our society,’’ he said.
Okpara urged the media to join hands in the fight against immorality and corruption, adding that they should be more vigilant and vocal as the vanguard of the moral crusade.
He said that the individual moral rebirth can be sustained if only religious bodies, traditional leaders and youths take up their responsibilities as authentic and active agents of integral character formation in the society.
According to him, we are urging all parents to embrace unique parental roles and particular emulate the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ as the perfect model of motherhood virtues.
“I also urge all the citizens of all form as matter of urgency moral revolutionary crusade groups and propagate or preach the mission of good moral virtues and ethical standards in all facets of our life.
“I appeal to the President Goodluck to extent greater political will on the rebranding project.
“Our judiciary must ensure that due process and rule of law suffer no political suppression of any sort.
“Government must draw clear line between party politics and business of making laws that will enhance the growth and sustenance of true democracy and good governance in the country,’’ he said. (NAN)
