Lagos- The Head of Security at the COPA Lagos International Beach soccer tournament, ASP Gideon Akinsola (rtd), on Friday said that security measures at the Eko Atlantic City venue of the competition were adequate.
Akinsola spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the venue of the tournament in Lagos.
“In as much as I can’t disclose the exact number of security personnel here, all I can tell you, is that we are prepared for this years’ edition.
“Fans can be guaranteed of adequate security. Lives and property will be secured here because that’s our paramount concern,” Akinsola said.
NAN reports that in the first match played between FC Barcelona and the Pepsi Football Academy ended 7-4 in favour of the latter.
In another match, Cote d’Ivoire defeated African Beach Soccer champions, Senegal, 6-2.
African teams are: Nigeria, Senegal and Ghana, while the clubs are Barcelona, Pepsi Academy, Stationary Stores and Enyimba FC.
A total of eight teams, made up of 4 countries and 4 clubs, are competing at the three-day championships. (NAN)
