ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – Senator Shehu Sani has described as persecution the current focus on former President Goodluck Jonathan by the Administration of President Muhamadu Buhari while ignoring past Leaders with more grievious moral questions. The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, therefore queried the kind of justice that could be derived from a state and system that respect past leaders with more grievous moral questions but targets and selects one with less grievious moral question for persecution.
The senator made the statement on his twitter handle @ShehuSani on Wednesday.
He asked: “Where is justice in a state and a system that revered all its past leaders with more grievous moral question & targets only one? Persecution!”
Sundiata Post recalls that the statement of Senator Shehu Sani came after Jonathan was summoned to appear in an Abuja high court presided over by Justice Okon Abang to give evidence as defence witness in the trial of Chief Olisa Metuh, former national publicity secretary of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Abang had issued the summon on Tuesday for Jonathan to appear before it on Wednesday.
When Jonathan failed to appear in court on Wednesday for lack of court notice to him in that regard, Jusice Abang again ordered the bailiff to ensure he served the former President with summons within five days to enable Jonathan be in court at the next trial date.
Metuh is facing a seven-count charge brought against him and his company, Destra Investment Limited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
