PANKSHIN – Mr Samuel Goar, Chairman, Pankshin Local Government of Plateau, has appealed to the state government to facilitate the relocation of the College of Health Technology, Pankshin, to its permanent site.
The chairman, who made the appeal on Thursday in Pankshin when a seven-man visitation panel to the college paid him a courtesy call, the idea would raise the students’ morale and encourage competition.
Goar said that since the inception of the college in 1976, it had been at a temporary site which had affected the college negatively.
“We are told that all this while, the National Board for Technology Education (NBTE) had refused to come around to accredit the courses the college is offering on the ground that it is not on its permanent site.
“Now that you people are here on the instruction of our able Governor, Jonah Jang, we hope you will report back to him the plight of the college for its quick movement to the permanent site, “ he said. Earlier, the Chairman of the panel, Dr Agaldo Ishaya, Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Office, said the visit was to assess the workings of the college.
“We are here as a visitation panel to look at the totality of the workings of the college; it’s like diagnosing the ills and what is happening in the college and to advise government appropriately, “ he said.
According to him, “technically government wants to know what is happening in the college so that it can improve on its situation; the movement to its permanent site is one of the things we are looking at “. (NAN)
