Akure  – Gbenga Jegede, the newly appointed Chairman of the Ondo State Sports Council, says top on his agenda is the renovation and completion of facilities at the state’s sports complex.

Jegede, who gave the assurance on Tuesday while inspecting facilities at the complex soon after officially assuming duties, said most of the facilities at the stadium were dilapidated.

He noted that the structures that were not dilapidated at the complex were uncompleted; stressing that it was giving him cause for concern.

“More competitions will be organised at the grassroots for discovery of more talents in order to sustain the state’s sporting records.

“In order to realise this vision, we need ready facilities and that is what I plan to put on ground,’’ the chairman added.

While welcoming Jegede, the General Manager of the complex, Idowu Akinbulumo (Mrs) pledged, on behalf of the staff, her support to the chairman, saying they would work to facilitate the overall success of the management.

Akinbulumo said one of the issues she had discussed with the chairman was re-awarding of some projects that the Government had earlier revoked.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jegede was one of the chairmen of boards and parastatal announced by the Ondo State Government on Oct. 5. (NAN)
