Abuja – A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Tuesday discharged a 22-year-old applicant, Usman Mohammed, charged with alleged trespass and theft.
Mohammed of no fixed address was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft of a Techno and Nokia cell phones from a shop.
The Chief Magistrate, Temino Zimzu, however, discharged Mohammed after he pleaded guilty and begged for leniency.
Zimzu said, “you have shown remorse, you are also a first-time offender and the items stolen were recovered from you intact.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“The court is going to be very lenient on you. Consequently, I hereby discharge the accused, and the first information report terminated.’’
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Christopher Johnson, had told the court that Saminu Garba and Sani Abdulla of Lala Plaza, Wuse 2, Abuja, reported the matter at the Maitama Police Station on Dec. 18.
Johnson said that the accused trespassed into the complainants’ shop and stole a Techno and Nokia cell phones.
He said the accused was caught and the two phones were recovered from him.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 342 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
