ABUJA – A Senior Magistrate court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on Thursday discharged a travel agency office clerk, Paul Abu, of stealing N210,000.
Abu, 28, was arraigned for criminal breach of trust.
The senior magistrate, Mrs Chinyere Nwacheonwu, discharged and acquitted Abu, after the prosecutor, Cpl. Umar Ango told the court that the nominal complainant had agreed to settle the matter out of court.
Nwacheonwu terminated the matter and discharged the accused.
Ango had alleged that on March 27, at about 4 p.m., Miss Judith Okorobo of Lawsta Travels and Tours,
lodged a report against the accused at the Wuse Police Station.
Ango told the court that on March 13, the accused was given N210,000, being a clerk in the company, to take to its headquarters in Wuse Zone 6.
Ango alleged that Abu disappeared with the money.
The prosecutor informed the court that the offence contravened the Penal Code.
The accused had pleaded not guilty. (NAN)
