The Police prosecutor, Insp. Stephen Okwu- Agbor, told the court that Sylvester Uhaa of Gudu District Abuja, reported the matter at Karu Police Station on May 6.
Okwu-Agbor said Sani, and two others now at large, boarded the same taxi with the complainant.
He said the accused persons “formed a common intention’’ and stole the complainant’s bag which contained laptop, a modem, a blackberry cell phone and his wallet containing the sum of N3,500.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.
“If the convict is found guilty, he will be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to five years or with fine or with both,’’ he said.
The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.
The presiding judge, Hassan Ishaq, granted him bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Ishaq ordered that the surety must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and adjourned the case till June 15, for further hearing. (NAN)
