Court grants man N500, 000 bail over alleged assault

Badagry – A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, on Friday granted N500,000 bail to  a 46-year-old man, Segun Kazeem, who allegedly attacked another man with a cutlass.

Bello, whose address was not provided, is facing a count charge of assault.

The defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, was alleged to have inflicted injury on the head and right hand of the complainant, Mr Daniel Ikechukwu, with a cutlass.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Lazarus Hotepo, also ordered the defendant to produce  two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until March 26, for hearing.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ade Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb.10 at 4:30p.m. on Michael Dosu Street, Morogbo, Badagry, Lagos.

Adeosun said that the defendant caused Ikechukwu bodily harm, in contravention of Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, as amended.
