Modakeke – A Modakeke Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday ordered the remand of 24-year-old man, Adebisi Saheed, over alleged armed robbery.
Saheed is facing a two-count charge of armed robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.
Senior Magistrate Bose Awosan did not take the plea of the suspect, as the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear the case.
Awosan ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison pending legal advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and adjourned the case until Nov.13.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Sgt. Ona Glory, had told the court that the suspect committed the offences on Dec. 26, 2016, around 9.30 a.m. at Akoraye Area, Modakeke-Ife.
Glory said that the suspect conspired with others now at large to commit felony to wit armed robbery.
He added that the suspect armed with dangerous weapons such as gun and cutlasses robbed Samuel Effiong and Rhoda Afolabi of their property.
“Goods carted away by the suspect are: HP laptop, one Infinix 02 phone, one Nokia phone, Samsung power bank, torch light, one wrist watch and one shirt, all valued at N180,000,’’ , Glory said.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 1 (1), 2), (a), (b) and 6 (b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
