Kaduna – A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday ordered the remand of two labourers, Isah Yusuf and Mohammed Mansir in correctional centre in Kaduna over alleged armed robbery.
The Magistrate, Umar Ibrahim, ordered the police to duplicate the case file to the Kaduna State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), for legal advice.
He said that the duo should be in custody pending legal advice from the DPP office.
Ibrahim adjourned the case until March 30, for hearing.
The defendants both residents of Kinkinau in Kaduna were arraigned on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and possession of dangerous weapons.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, earlier, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Feb. 24, at Kawo Road, Kaduna.
Leo alleged that Yusuf and Mansir armed with a cutlass and a locally made pistol, robbed one Istifanus Gabriel of his Pathfinder jeep and other valuables worth N4 million.
He said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 1(2), 6(b) and 28 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap. 398, Vol RII, Law of Federation, 2004.
